Wicker birdhouse from Gaza
Wicker birdhouse from Gaza
Retail Product 006.
A wicker birdhouse handmade in Gaza.
Open edition (though limited numbers currently in stock).
This traditional birdhouse is for small birds and is widely used in people’s gardens and on their terraces in Gaza. The birds’ freedom of flight and movement is in sharp contrast to the experience of the people who live in the Gaza strip, often referred to as an ‘open air prison’, because of the military siege imposed by the Israeli occupation.
The birdhouses are handmade by visually impaired people in the Open Studio of the Red Crescent Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza.
100% of proceeds go to Doctors Without Borders in Gaza and the West Bank.
